
The standard fee for a wedding at Saint John’s is $1200. This includes fees for the Celebrant, flowers, the organist, document preparation, the Verger, and use of the building. Additional fees apply for operation of the audio system and musical rehearsals if required. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is payable in advance to secure the booking. The balance of $1100 is payable to two weeks prior to the ceremony taking place.
All couples are encouraged to undertake a marriage preparation course. Saint John’s will provide information on local programs. Participation is not mandatory.
Saint John’s welcomes all people and happily remarries those who have been divorced.
Saint John’s has a lovely English bell in the church tower that is rung at the arrival of the bride and when the couple leaves the church.
To ensure the dignity of the occasion, photographers are asked not to distract the bridal party or obscure the view of family and friends. Videos are permitted at a discreet distance and without additional lighting. Saint John’s has worked with many photographers and is pleased to recommend professional photographers it knows will provide excellent results at a reasonable price.
The flowers in the Church are wonderfully arranged by members of the Sanctuary Guild. The cost of flowers is included in the fee for the wedding. Additional flowers can be arranged. If a specific colour or variety of flowers is desired then we will endeavour to meet your request. Ribbons can be provided for the pew ends, or you may wish to arrange your own.
The Vicar of Parish normally officiates at weddings. Clergy of other traditions are welcome to assist. The Celebrant must be an Anglican Priest.
Confetti is not permitted in the church building or on the front steps. Rose petals are fine. Rice can be hazardous!
Saint John’s Community Hall is situated directly behind the historic Parish Church and is a convenient and stylish venue for functions after your wedding. Built in 1906, the Hall is surrounded by charming gardens and an elegant rotunda. Its Queen Anne architecture, high vaulted ceiling, and wooden floors, make it a stylish venue for a truly memorable occasion. It is equipped with a professional kitchen and functioning theatre stage that make it perfect for cocktails, parties, and more formal events. All weddings have to comply with the regulations in the Commonwealth Marriage Act. There are forms to be filled out and preparations made. The Celebrant for your wedding will guide you through the preparation of the relevant documentation. Notice of Intented Marriage Form
Marriage in the Anglican Church requires that at least one partner be baptised. Saint John’s is happy to advise individuals and couples on preparation for baptism, where this is desired.
