St Johns East Malvern

Finch Street Cultural Fund

The Finch Street Cultural Fund was established in 2020 to provide a means for Tax-Deductible Donations to be received to support the whole cultural offering of the parish – and particularly the provision of music and support of Choral Scholars.

Through the Finch Street Cultural Fund up to 8 Choral Scholars are supported at Saint John’s Finch Street each year. They are young and developing artists who have often had no experience singing sacred music in the Anglican tradition in the context of worship. Scholars are expected to attend on average nine rehearsals each month and sing the weekly Choral Eucharist and Choral Evensong once a month. They also sing for a number of special services, including an All Souls’ Requiem and Nine Lessons & Carols as well as a rich programme throughout Holy Week and Easter and of course the iconic Christmas Midnight Mass.

There are rich resources at Saint John’s Finch Street to promote music and culture – whether our magnificent organ, world-class Kawai grand piano, stunning acoustic, flexible and generously proportioned space, all in the beautiful atmosphere of our heritage church featuring century-old stained-glass windows and furnishings.
